Ferris wheels are grouped by height class because the structural system, foundation and transport all change with scale. Compact 14-30 m wheels fit plazas, malls and small parks; regional 42-50 m wheels serve scenic areas and city parks; landmark 65-120 m wheels anchor master-planned destinations.

Capacity grows with height: a 30 m wheel serves about 80 riders per cycle, a 42-50 m wheel 96-128 riders, and a 65-88 m wheel up to 216 riders. Drive power also climbs, from a few kilowatts on small models to 24-75 kW on landmark wheels.

Site and logistics decide the final choice. A 30 m wheel needs roughly a 20×20 m footprint, while a 50 m wheel ships in about eight 40-foot high-cube containers and requires high-sided transport. Gondola type, LED lighting scope and wind-load structure all add to the quotation.
