How to Choose a Ferris Wheel: 14 m to 120 m
2026-08-12 · Buying Guide

A ferris wheel is the most visible return a park can buy. It works as a landmark by day, a light show by night, and a revenue ride with high throughput. But the right height class depends on your site, not your ambition.
Compact wheels (14-30 m) fit plazas, malls and small parks: the 14 m children's wheel needs only 6.5×5.5 m, and a 30 m wheel serves 80 riders per cycle on a 26 m slewing diameter.
Regional wheels (42-50 m) are the sweet spot for scenic areas and city parks: 96-128 riders, drive power 12-25 kW, and footprint 20×20 m to 35×32 m. These are the models most often quoted at USD 199,000-366,000.
Landmark wheels (65-120 m) are destination decisions: 216-288 riders, 24-75 kW drives, cable or truss structures, AC gondolas and serious foundation engineering. They anchor master-planned projects.
The buying checklist: gondola type (standard, AC, themed or VIP), LED lighting scope, structure type for wind load, foundation drawings, container transport (a 50 m wheel ships in 8×40HQ), and the certification package for your market.
